Documents and details to keep ready for each application on the TIMBER portal — Tree Cutting, Transit Pass, Transit Pass Extension, NOC and Sandalwood.

Tree Cutting Permission

JPG, JPEG, PNG or PDF — max 2 MB per file

Mandatory documents Required

  1. Photo ID ProofIdentity proof of the applicant (e.g. Aadhaar, Voter ID, Passport, Driving Licence) — select the ID type and enter the ID number on the form.
  2. Proof of OwnershipDocument showing ownership of the land / trees (e.g. title deed).
  3. Latest Land Tax ReceiptCopy of the latest land tax receipt for the property.
  4. Possession CertificateCopy of the possession certificate for the property.

Additional documents If applicable

  1. Proof of Legal StatusIssued by the Village Officer / Tahsildar, if applicable.
  2. Location SketchSketch showing where the trees stand on the land.
  3. Authorisation for Joint PropertyCertificate of authorisation, if the property is jointly owned.
  4. Other DocumentsAny other supporting document (give it a name when uploading).
Also keep ready
  • Survey number, extent of land (in hectares), village and panchayat of the property.
  • Purpose of cutting — dangerous to life, dangerous to property, wind-fallen, or other.
  • Number of trees, and the species and girth (GBH, cm) of each tree to be cut.
  • Your name exactly as in Aadhaar, and a 10-digit mobile number.
  • Mobile number linked to your Aadhaar — the declaration is signed with Aadhaar eSign (OTP).

  1. Photo ID ProofAadhaar, Voter ID, Passport, etc. (select the ID type on the form).
  2. Land Possession CertificatePossession certificate of the land.
  3. Sketch of the LandLand sketch / survey map.
  4. Latest Land Tax ReceiptCopy of the latest land tax receipt.
  5. Village / Taluk Officer CertificateCertificate confirming the land is not under LA / LT proceedings.
  6. Bank Passbook / Cancelled ChequeOf the land owner — for a joint property, one for each co-owner.

Additional documents If applicable

  1. Ownership CertificateProof of land ownership (pattayam).
  2. Registration DeedRegistered deed of the land.
  3. Joint Ownership Document / Title DeedRequired if the land is a joint property.
  4. Legal Heirship CertificateFor a joint property, if applicable.
  5. Tree PhotographsA photo of each sandalwood tree (JPG / PNG).
  6. Other DocumentsAny other supporting document, e.g. an affidavit (give it a name when uploading).
Also keep ready
  • Land survey number, survey block (if any), PIN code, village and local body.
  • Reason for cutting — dead, diseased, wind-fallen, dangerous to life / property, or other.
  • Height (m) and girth (GBH, cm) of each sandalwood tree.
  • Bank account details — account holder, bank, branch, account number and IFSC. For a joint property, these for each co-owner with their share (total 100%).
  • Mobile number linked to your Aadhaar — the declaration is signed with Aadhaar eSign (OTP).

  5. Purpose DocumentDocument supporting the purpose of the NOC (registration, pattayam, development, etc.).
  6. Location Sketch (PDF)Sketch showing the location of the land — PDF only.

  1. Survey Sketch (PDF)If available — PDF only.
  2. Previous NOCIf an NOC was received earlier for the same land.
  3. Previous NOC SketchSketch attached to the earlier NOC, if any.
  4. Other DocumentsAny other supporting document (give it a name when uploading).
Also keep ready
  • Survey number (or old survey number and resurvey number, if resurvey is done).
  • Boundary details of the land — north, south, east and west.
  • Whether the land shares a boundary with forest, or its approximate distance from forest (km).
  • Purpose of the NOC — registration (Sub Registrar), pattayam (Land Tribunal Tahsildar), development, or other.
  • Name and designation of the institution / organisation, if applying for one.
  • Mobile number linked to your Aadhaar — the declaration is signed with Aadhaar eSign (OTP).

Transit Pass

No new uploads — the documents of your approved cutting permission are used

A transit pass can be applied for only after your tree cutting permission is approved and digitally signed by the officer, and only for approved logs not already covered by a transit pass. Keep your Cutting Permission Number ready.

How it works

  1. Cutting permission approvedYour tree cutting permission is approved and digitally signed by the officer.
  2. Apply for transit passOn the Apply Now page choose "Transit Pass", enter the Cutting Permission Number and add the products from the approved logs.
  3. Officer verificationThe Range Forest Officer verifies the details, with field verification if needed.
  4. Download the passOnce approved and digitally signed, download the transit pass and carry it with the timber.
Details you will need
  • Cutting Permission Number of the approved application.
  • Product details for each approved log — Round Log (height, MDH), Firewood (weight) or Sawn Size (length, breadth, height).
  • Destination district and destination location.
  • Vehicle registration number and mode of transport (truck, van, cart, other).
  • Driver name and driver phone number.
  • Route, including the forest checking stations on the way.

Transit Pass Extension

No uploads — nothing new to attach

You can request an extension for your own transit pass once it is approved and digitally signed. A pass that has already been extended, or that has an extension request pending, cannot be extended again.

How it works

  1. Check your passEnter your Transit Pass Number and click Check to confirm it can be extended.
  2. Give the reasonExplain why the extension is needed and submit the request.
  3. Officer reviewThe Range Forest Officer reviews the request and sets the new validity date.
  4. Download the extended passOnce approved, a new extended transit pass is issued for download.

  • Reason for the extension.
